It appears we have a shortened version of the film. Considering that all other editions contain a language-specific subtitle stream to make up for the Italian-only scenes, our English-dubbed release does not (refer to my Region 1 vs Region 4 comparison).
Also, it seems some gore has been trimmed in our release. I make this assumption based on the following:
• A knife slicing deeply into a women’s chest is only glimpsed before a clumsy cutaway (9:33).
• When Gianni’s head is about to be crushed by a car, neither the gory impact nor the aftermath is shown (35:25). Interestingly, his bloody body is printed as a still on the back cover of our DVD.
• An arm being sawn off is only briefly seen before a sharp edit to the next scene (61:45).
• One reviewer critiquing the Region 1 Anchor Bay version remarked on the presence of a couple of hard-core images. These are certainly not contained in our Region 4 release.
If anyone can confirm or refute any of the above information, I’d be very appreciative.
