On 24 November 2004, the movie was classified by the Aussie censors M 15+ with the consumer advice, "Adult themes, Low level coarse language". On 12 September 2007, the rating was increased to MA 15+ with the advice, "Strong coarse language, Satirical humour".
DVDs are classified by the OFLC as a complete package. Therefore, even though the feature might only warrant an M rating, the extras taken all together might score an MA 15+. This happened with Wes Craven's werewolfy yarn Cursed (still censored on local DVD). That being said, it's difficult to imagine what kind of extras would push The Life of Brian to the MA 15+ threshold, that is, on par with the like of the gruesome (and rather non-satirical) Saw movies.
