The original 70mm version of the film is listed as being 158 minutes long by the Internet Movie Database, whereas the 35mm version is listed as 125 minutes long. By my calculations, that would equate to a PAL-formatted length of about 120 minutes - somewhat different to the 104 minutes we have here (equating to the 110 minutes of the Region 1 release). Somewhere along the line footage has been lost, the details of which I have no idea. Whilst this is not censorship per se, it illustrates that age has not aided the film much.
