An international airliner, piloted by Captain Murphy (Corbin Bernsen) is suddenly jolted mid-flight, loses all power and crashes into the sea. It's the second crash by a US plane in two days, under the same suspicious circumstances. On the same day the Air Force's top secret stealth fighter, AURORA, vanishes without trace.

Back in Washington, the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Stenghel, (Lance Henriksen in his finest role since Firehawk) receives an anonymous video tape. It has been sent by the daughter of a prominent Russian scientist who died mysteriously three years earlier. She is demanding that the US goverment admit responsability for the death of her father, otherwise she will continue to blow up an airliner every four hours.

To avoid a major alert and a national crisis, Stenghel calls up two "Top Gun" pilots to find her. However, they are forced out of the sky and captured. Brutalised and tortured by the terrorists, their only option is to fight their way out and recapture the plane - in the end it is a battle of minds, power and planes in this supersonic war of nerves and bravery.
