Irene is a bored housewife who finds herself trapped in a trailer when she succumbs to her curiosity about Billy, a man she met when he trimmed a tree in her neighbourhood. Several hours later she is discovered by Billy and his girlfriend Grace who agree to drive her into town so she can catch a bus home. Chinese New Year is in full swing and Grace finds herself seduced by the wild, hedonistic celebrations at a Chinese nightclub and bath house.
As Irene slips deeper into Billy’s erotic world, repressed images of her own past come bubbling to the surface. Confronted by her own sexuality and her long buried secret, Irene flees in panic. Billy sets off in pursuit and finds himself in a race against the clock trying to reach her home before her husband and son return from a weekend fishing trip. Racked with grief and self-loathing, she is convinced she can never return to her home and her family.
