Veronica's father, Mr diAngelo, saves Pine Hollow from going broke by becoming an investor and training his young racehorse, Windsong, at the Stables for the Belmont Cup. Carole becomes concerned about Windsong's erratic behaviour and with the other members of the Saddle Club, sets out to help the horse.When Windsong misses the race, Mr diAngelo is unable to give Pine Hollow any more help as he has lost too much money and even Veronica will have to work at the stables for her horse's board. Although this means Veronica will no longer lord over them, the Saddle Club feel sorry for her when she sells her horse, Garnet. But now the bank is going to foreclose on Pine Hollow, the Saddle Club tries to raise funds through a rummage sale. But it is Veronica who finds an item that could save the stables...but will she help Pine Hollow or use it for her own benefit?
