In January 2002, the English National Opera (ENO) took on a challenge. Could a nationwide search uncover someone with no operatic experience who could be coached to sing in the opera Rigoletto, side by side with world-class performers? The result is Operatunity, a four-part series that follows the ENO and opera singing hopefuls through this risky experiment. This unique documentary captures the excitement, joys, tears and traumas experienced by applicants and judges alike throughout the competition, and climaxes with the live performance on the stage at the London Coliseum. Plus, enjoy The Winner's Story, the film that follows the lives of the winners after their success. The harsh reality hits on the morning after their extraordinary performance at the Coliseum and they now have to deal with agents, record contracts, photo shoots and language coaches - all the complications that come with singing professionally.
