Following their famous triumph of 1980, flair was replaced by ferocity at Belmore. It proved no less successful, though. The Canterbury-Bankstown line-up of the mid-eighties is undisputed as the best defensive unit of Rugby League's modern era. Under coach Warren Ryan, this new breed of Bulldog had a bite to match its bark. In 1984, they brought Parramatta's dominance to a grinding halt and put up another wall 12 months later to retain their crown by denying hot-favourites St George. The blueprint for two of the tightest grand final wins ever was borrowed a decade later by the 1995 side that shocked everyone by coming from seventh spot to blunt Manly's brilliance in the grand final. All three of those stirring Canterbury successes are here on this special DVD triple-pack that shows how they've earned their reputation as the toughest club in the league.
