Based on Henry James' immortal novella, The Turn of the Screw, this classic horror film is a dark, terrifying gothic tale of a repressed spinster-governess, Miss Giddens (Deborah Kerr) in charge of two small children in a lonely mansion haunted by tragedy.

Miss Giddens begins to suspect that the perfectly-mannered children are harboring a dark secret. Attempting to solve the mystery, the alarmed governess becomes convinced that the children are helpless pawns in a horrifying plot from beyond the grave!

Widely considered to be the finest ghost story ever filmed, THE INNOCENTS boasts a provocative script (co-written by acclaimed novelist Truman Capote), superb, atmospheric photography (from distinguished cinematographer Freddie Francis) and sterling performances guided by award winning director Jack Clayton (The Great Gatsby).

The principal inspiration for recent blockbusters The Sixth Sense and The Others, The Innocents remains a classic of its kind - and the quintessential ghost story.
