Amateur photpgrapher Sir Hugo Cunningham (Robert Stephenson) manages to capture the image of "The Asphyx" - the spirit of death that hovers above the body in moments of mortal peril. Hugo embarks on a search for immortality - a quest to capture and contain his Asphyx, thereby enabling him to cheat the grim reaper!

After having achieved everlasting life for himself, Hugo seeks, with increasingly insane fervor, to immortalize his son and daughter - and then disaster strikes...

THE ASPHYX is a haunting fable about a man prepared to sacrifice all that he loves in his quest for immortality - only to discover that he is domed to face eternity in despair and sorrow.

Boasting an intelligent script, a sterling cast and ravishing widescreen camera work courtesy of multiple Oscar winner Freddie Young ("Lawrence of Arabia", "Dr Zhivago"). THE ASPHYX is an eerie gothic gem.
