Born in 1872 in Zanesville, Ohio, Zane Grey, who originally wanted to be a professional baseball player, discovered the wonders of frontier America and became one of the most prolific and best loved western authors of all time. His novels, set against the backdrop of big sky country, were full of rugged individuals who embodied the proud spirit and noble virtues of the old west.
WEST OF THE PECOS (1945). Robert Mitchum stars in this well-plotted exciting Zane Grey Western. Thurston Hall and his daughter, Barbara Hale, are accosted by Robberts on their way to their Texas ranch from Chicago. This is only the start of their troubles as they encounter hold-ups, Horse stampedes and outlaws. Hiring Robert Mitchum and his sidekick to run their ranch leads to further problems because of Mitchums checkered past. Plot twists and suspense highlight this old west classic.
NEVADA (1944). Robert Mitchum gives a powerful performance as a hard-bitten loner who must come to grips with his own fears, as he must confront a vicious gang of outlaws terrorising the countryside. The values and timeless virtues that helped shape the American west and immortalised by Zane Grey in his many novels are in abundance in this exciting feature. Also stars Anne Jeffreys.
