A series of earthquakes rock Japan and unearth a mysterious egg on Infant Island.
When a trio of researchers are sent to the island, they discover twin fairies who warn them not to disturb the egg - the egg of Mothra.
When they take the egg from the island, the egg hatches, Godzilla awakes and the battle for earth begins.
