A distinguished British cast, headed by 1950s heart-throb Dirk Bogarde, lead this compelling WWII drama from legendary writer/directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Based on a a true story concerning wily Cretan resistance to the occupying German forcs, the film details a cunning plot to undermine the aggressors. With only a handful of Cretan resistance fighters, British agents Major Fermor (Bogarde) and Captain Moss (David Oxley) attempt to kidap the commander of the German army on Crete. But can they also take their polite but dangerous captive off the island and transport him to Egypt? The Germans don't take the attack lying down, and their daring response might take the Brits by surprise.
