A film by André Téchiné The elderly Berthe goes to live with her daughter Emilie after it is determined that she can no longer take care of herself. Unhappy in the family’s Toulouse home, Berthe spends much of her time talking to herself, which she finds less exhausting than talking to other people. As Christmas approaches and Berthe’s health dwindles, Emilie and her estranged brother Antoine are reunited, drawn together thanks to their mother’s impending death.
