I Was Here is the story of a 17-year-old boy whose circumstances lead him to become a drug dealer.
Rass is an elite school student living alone in an Estonian slum who dreams of having a family and love. One night his friends ask him to go to a party, held in honour of Olar, 26, who has just come out of prison. There Rass falls for Renita, the most beautiful girl on the block. Rass has just sold his cell phone and his jacket in order to buy some food and Olar offers him an opportunity to earn some money.
Desperate, he agrees to sell 15 grams of pure meth and is drawn into the world of the mafia and events spiral out of control. Rass realises that he has become part of a game that is too big for him when Olar threatens to harm Renita if he does not steal drugs worth a quarter of a million cronas from the Mafia. Getting arrested may be his only chance to start the new life he is dreaming of.
