World War II is coming to Bramley End...

A classic war film from the celebrated Ealing Studios, Went the Day Well depicts the nightmarish scenario of invasion, and illustrates how one industrious village risked everything to fend off their captors.

For the residents of a sleepy village in the English countryside, World War II is a distant threat until one fateful day, when a platoon of British soldiers are sent to be billeted with the good folk of Bramley End. The villagers do their best to welcome them, opening their homes and their hearts to the soldiers. They are soon horrified to discover that the troops are actually German paratroopers who proceed to hold the village captive. But the residents of Bramley End refuse to give up their town and country so easily, and a brutal showdown of epic proportions is initiated.
