The number of murders climbs into the hundreds and yet Prime Minister Michael Manley and opposition leader Edward Seaga refuse to meet.Bob Marley, himself a victim of this outbreak of violence organises on behalf of the Jamaican People, the giant "One Love Peace Concert." Held in Kingston on the 22nd April 1978 the concert coincides with the twelfth anniversary of Haile Sellassie's visit to Jamaica. The film of this remarkable event includes performances from Peter Tosh, Jacob Miller, Dennis Brown, U.Roy and of course Bob Marley himself. It climaxes with the historic moment when Marley united Jamaica's staunchest political foes for the very first time. Michael Manley and Edward Seaga would not appear together again until May 1981 at the state funeral of the very man who had so publicly attempted to heal their rift. With over 50 minutes of exclusive interviews shot in Jamaica especially for this DVD, "Heartland Reggae: The Special Edition" explores the circumstances around the "One Love Peace Concert" and examines its place in Jamaican musical, cultural and political history.
