In 2001 the Australasian Performing Rights Association Limited (APRA) celebrated 75 years of representing the performance copyright in musical works on behalf of composers, songwriters, and music publishers. To mark this milestone and the diversity of Australian music over that period, APRA invited over 100 music industry personalities to nominate their 10 Best Australian Songs. Nominations were received from writers, performers, critics, journalists, and music buffs and from these a list of the Top 30 All-time Australian songs was compiled. Most of these are brought together on this compilation.
