Here is the unique life story of the 20th century’s most famous athlete presented by world famous interviewer, Sir David Frost. Taped at Muhammad Ali’s rambling 80-acre farm near Chicago, it is the sixth of Sir David’s sit-downs with the 60-year old fighter. Frost has been with Ali at pinnacle moments in the boxer’s career, notably in Zaire, at the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, and also in New York and London when Ali was at the peak of his fighting fame and inflaming his political opponents.
The 60-minute program will draw upon these many hours from the BBC, London Weekend Television and other broadcasts in the U.S. In the latest interview, Ali will reflect on his extraordinary impact on boxing and on American society in general. We will hear from Ali on his early days in boxing; his Olympic gold; racism in America; his conversion to Islam; the dangers of boxing; the Black Muslin movement of which he became a leading figure; his highly controversial views; his Parkinson’s; the biggest fights of his life and the highly controversial fighters of today, such as Mike Tyson.
Also covering more contemporary subjects, we will hear from Ali about September 11th, The Olympic ideal and his reflections and regrets on the first six decades of his life. This most recent interview, taped at his home and in his customised boxing ring, includes some of Ali’s most memorable moments in the ring together with footage from his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky and pictures and memorabilia from his life.
