This film was released in Region 1 by Anchor Bay on a bare bones disc, with a reportedly inferior print. Criterion have also released this film with a transfer that is comparable to the Region 4, in that it includes windowboxed opening credits. The Criterion edition also includes the following extras: - Digitally restored sound and picture.
- Commentaries by Hitchcock scholar Marian Keane and film historian Rudy Behlmer.
- Complete transmission of the 1948 Lux Radio Theatre adaptation, starring Ingrid Bergman and Joseph Cotten.
- An extensive gallery of production and publicity stills.
- Production correspondence.
- Collection of trailers and teasers.
- Script excerpts of deleted scenes and alternate endings.
- Excerpts from the short story “The Song of the Dragon” - the inspiration for Notorious.
- Rare newsreel footage of Ingrid Bergman and Alfred Hitchcock.
- Subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired.
The Region 2 release is presented on a single layered disc, and includes the following additional features: - Alfred Hitchcock Interview (3 minutes).
- Kim Newman Interview (15 minutes).
- Photo Gallery.
- Production Notes.
- Cast & Crew Biographies.
- Article on Hitchcock's career.
For Hitchcock aficionados, the Criterion is clearly the ideal purchase.
