Video Likes Theatrical aspect ratios on DVD. Smooth film-like pictures free of grain and film-artefacts. Levels of realism that make you set back and say "WOW".
Video Dislikes Grain, pan and scanned presentations, aliasing, film artefacts. One of my pet hates is cropped movies that butcher the directors intended viewing area.
Audio Likes Clean highs and strong, sharp, bass. Distortion free soundtracks that make use of the surrounds well and provide an immersive experience.
Audio Dislikes Overly low, and loud, rumbly bass that draws attention to itself. Poorly used surrounds that destroy imaging. Distortion and pops in audio, they drive me nuts and I seem to be able to hear even the most miniscule problems.
Favourite DVDs See below :)
Least Favourite DVDs Having watched it just recently - Clerks in R4. I don't really have any other DVDs that I dislike because I just don't buy them.
Most Eagerly Awaited DVDs Star Wars, Indiana Jones and BTF Trilogies. Lord of the Rings in R4.

Opinions About Specific Movies and their DVDs

Titanic Saw this twice at the cinemas and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mind you when I was a kid I must have read every book about the Titanic that I could find. Shame about the DVD.
The Matrix Saw this theatrically, amazing special effects and a great storyline to boot. Bought the DVD and was even more impressed - great home theatre demonstration material.
Terminator 2 An all time great. The R1 Ultimate Edition is a sublime DVD experience that cannot be missed. Can't wait for T3 to come out
Star Wars The adventure story that defines them all. I have seen these so many times and can't wait for the DVD release. If it ever happens.
Godzilla Meh.
Independence Day Good fun but would not waste money buying the DVD.
