Vital Statistics

Age Group Early 30s.
Video Likes Theatre of the absurd and a really well-written script. I've also got a deep and unironic love for Z-grade stuff.
Video Dislikes The words "Adam Sandler is" before a title are a pretty good warning sign.
Audio Likes Anything from nerd rock to German opera.
Audio Dislikes So-called "popular" music where a mediocre soprano overuses vibrato rather than talent.
Favourite DVDs Criterion's versions of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Brazil, the SE of This is Spinal Tap and the Ilsa Trilogy boxed set
Least Favourite DVDs The American copy of An American Werewolf in Paris that I spent A$60 on and found the Australian version of three months later in a bargain bin for $12.
Most Eagerly Awaited DVDs More season sets of The Muppet Show, more editions of the Looney Tunes Golden Collections, Seasons 2 & 3 of the Upright Citizens Brigade and more Mystery Science Theater 3000 releases.

Opinions About Specific Movies and their DVDs

Titanic Gave me a whole new reason to hate Celine Dion, but I almost bought a second-hand copy of the DVD just so that I could watch Leonardo DiCaprio die. Over and over again. In slow motion.
The Matrix A movie with an overrated premise that wasn't as original as it was claimed, but a great disc for showing off a system.
Terminator 2 A nice little bit of escapism, but whose effects are showing their age.
Star Wars It took long enough. I'm a little cranky that I had to buy four discs when I was only ever going to watch two, though.
Godzilla The fact that Shock is bringing them out in double-packs means that it's much more affordable to pick up a collection, but it means you get stuck with some duds as well. I mean, why would you want to own Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster, even as a freebie with Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters?
Independence Day Made me really proud to be an American - right up until I realised I wasn't one.
