The Age of Shadows (2016)
Ray N

Cover Art Seoul, the late 1920s; Japan has occupied Korea but the resistance movement is growing. The Age of Shadows, from Korean director Kim Jee-woon (The Good the Bad the Weird), is a handsome looking and flawlessly acted period spy thriller. . Sponsored by Disk Doctor.

Dunkirk (4K Blu-ray) (2017)
CallumK

And we have a new 4K demo disc. Dunkirk's video presentation is truly in a league of its own, with revelatory video and a flawless audio mix that's true to the director's intentions. Add in the standard Blu-ray and its terrific selection of special features, and this one comes highly recommended. . Sponsored by DVD Buzz.

Dunkirk (Blu-ray) (2017)
CallumK

It certainly has its shortcomings, but Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk is nevertheless an extraordinary achievement of contemporary moviemaking, and at 107 minutes it's one hell of an experience that holds on and doesn't let go. It demands to be seen on the biggest possible screen. The Blu-ray from Roadshow doesn't leave much to be desired. A two-disc set, the technical presentation is thoroughly marvellous, while the second disc contains a satisfying selection of featurettes which takes an insightful look into the making of this blockbuster. This is one for the Blu-ray shelf. Highly recommended. . Sponsored by Family Boxoffice.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Blu-ray) (2017)
CallumK

Not as bad as I had feared but nowhere near as good as it rightfully should be, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is another hit-and-miss entry into this tired franchise. It's only for devout fans. As expected, the technical presentation on this Blu-ray is extraordinary, with expertly encoded video and a bombastic lossless audio track. The special features are a bit on the scant side, but there's still some great stuff on the disc. Fans can buy with confidence, but newcomers should try before they buy. . Sponsored by Atomic Movies.

The Law of Violence (La legge della violenza) (1969)
Ray N

The Law of Violence is a minor spaghetti western from 1969. It has a fabulous score by Stelvio Cipriani and is more a drama than an action spaghetti western, raising issues about hypocrisy, corruption, prejudice, violence and the rule of law that are not common in this genre. Pity about the incorrect aspect ratio though. . Sponsored by DeVoteD.
