Plot Synopsis

Adventure Time is a Cartoon Network production which as with many Cartoon Network shows is being released in two different formats in Australia, being either full season collections or compilation discs of episodes. TrevorD previously reviewed a number of releases for Adventure Time. One of those is linked here and others are linked from that review. This review is of the most recent season set release, The Complete Second Season. Trevor's review gives a good rundown on the nature of the show and its wacky characters. The compilation discs are focused on episodes whereas the season sets include more extras.

This set contains all 26 episodes from Seasons 2 of the show. To my mind these full season sets are a better option than the standalone discs as they contain all episodes rather than highlights and provide more extras.

This set is nicely packaged with a slip cover of The Ice King, which slides off to reveal what he looks like shaven (in one of the episodes) and then the discs are labelled internal views of The Ice King's head. The highlights of these episodes include the double episode season ending Mortal Folly/Mortal Recoil, Belly of the Beast & It Came From the Nightosphere.

     Funny Stuff.

Commentaries

All 26 episodes have optional commentaries by the creator and writers plus sometimes the voice actors. Fun and interesting however some have been cut and sections replaced with ukulele songs, seemingly due to inappropriate dialogue.

The Crew of Adventure Time interviewed by Pendleton Ward (6:01)

Short interviews with some crew members with questions from the creator. OK.

R4 vs R1

NOTE: To view non-R4 releases, your equipment needs to be multi-zone compatible and usually also NTSC compatible.

The Region 1 release is basically the same. Buy local.

Summary

A full season set of Adventure Time episodes.

    The video quality is good.

    The audio quality is good.

    The extras are quite good.
