Plot Synopsis

Bob the Builder, and his crew of Wendy, Lofty, Scoop and others are back in action in these 6 episodes.

Scoop the Disco Digger - Bob and Wendy couldn't get away for a holiday, so Scoop decides to help out by organising some fun for them.

Mr Bentley's Winter Fair - Mr Bentley is rather busy organising everyone in the village for the Winter Fair.

Lofty the Artist - Lofty, the blue crane truck, becomes an artist and helps out with some redecorating around town.

Spud's Statue - Molly builds a statue of a horse for the town. However, Spud the Scarecrow gets up to his usual mischief and ends up breaking the statue before its public unveiling. What will they do?

Pilchard and the Field Mice - Bob needs to replace a structural beam in Mr Ellis' cottage. While he's there, Bob's cat Pilchard, who sneaked along, has his own adventure involving little furry rodents.

Trix's Pumpkin Pie - While Bob is busy building the climbing frame for the school, Trix, the little hyperactive purple forklift, keep trying to help with everything, including baking a pumpkin pie!

Audio

The audio is presented in Stereo.

Dialogue is clear at all times and is as much in sync with the visuals as one could expect in an animated show.

I think just about everyone would know the title song, sung by Neil Morrissey. Just in case you don't, you can hear it at least 6 times on this disc!  The music, composed by Paul K Joyce, is lively and suits the onscreen visuals perfectly.

The surround channels weren't used at all. Most of the sound action was from the centre speaker, with music and the occasional voice coming from the other front speakers.

The subwoofer piped in to support music and some effects, without ever going over-the-top.

Menu Audio

The main menu is simple and un-animated, with the instrumental version of the theme playing in the background.

R4 vs R1

NOTE: To view non-R4 releases, your equipment needs to be multi-zone compatible and usually also NTSC compatible.

This combination of episodes doesn't appear to have been released in either R1 or R2.

Summary

Thanks to the music and visuals, this show still looks fresh and lively. It's fun and 'soomthin' different with all the Northern England accents which add some character to the characters!

The 6 episodes on this disc are enjoyable and have been provided with good video and audio transfers. There are no extras at all.

It's well worth getting this for fans of BtB.
