Plot Synopsis

Title of Show : Bananas in Pyjamas

Title of Disc : Party Pack

    Year of Production : 1996 & 2002

    Country of origin : Australia

What's included? :  30 episodes all of which were previously released on three separate videos.

Episode Length : Most are about 5 minutes, a couple are a little shorter.

    Details of episodes :

This DVD is a combination of three previously released videos (each containing ten episodes) as follows

      1. Dancing Daze (2002)
      2. Beat Box (2002)
      3. It's Music Time (1996)

Style of Production : Live action plus puppets

Premise of show : Bananas in Pyjamas is a long running children's show on the ABC. The show itself has been running since 1992, and before that it was a feature of Play School. The show's origins are actually from a song published in 1967 by Carey Blyton. This is the same song still used as the theme tune on the show, sung by Monica Trapaga. The show is now seen in many countries around the world and is very popular with the pre-school set. The characters on the show are B1 & B2, the Bananas of the title who, fairly obviously, wear pyjamas. They live in Cuddles Avenue and their next door neighbours are the Teddies, Morgan, Lulu & Amy. The later episodes include extra characters such as Rat in the Hat & Maggie the Magpie. All of the characters with the exception of Maggie are played by adult actors in costumes..

    Age Group : 2-5

Related to any other children's shows? : Not really

Adult's view : A kids classic which works well for kids but I think is pretty hard to watch for adults.

Child's view : My boys love the bananas and love the songs and dancing.

Other Releases of this show available? : There are three other volumes of this show now available locally.

Overall : This is a very full DVD containing over two hours of entertainment for the kids. A good buy.

Video

    The video quality is good.

The feature is presented in a 1.29:1 aspect ratio non 16x9 enhanced which is probably the original aspect ratio.

The picture was quite clear and sharp throughout sporting a quite healthy bitrate, with no evidence of low level noise. There was some light grain especially in the much older opening credits.

The colour was quite good with a little bleeding showing in the older episodes.

From an artefacts perspective there were a few jumps probably related to tape tracking errors, but generally it was pretty good.

    There are no subtitles.
