Plot Synopsis

In short, bro'Town is New Zealand's answer to South Park.

Written and performed by the The Naked Samoans, it details the life of 5 kids living in the suburb of Morningside, New Zealand.

Set in a Pacific Islander community, the 5 boys (Vale, Valea, Jeff da Maori, Mack and Sione) attend their local school and and wreak havoc in the Morningside community. The show does a good job at satirising the kid's culture, religion (which suprisingly has a strong theme throughout the series) as well as NZ culture and personalities.

The entire first season is included on this one disc set.

Overall, the show is a lot of fun and an interesting cultural glimpse into our Trans-Tasman cousins. Australian television would do well to go out on a limb more often and make something up to this standard.

Audio

The only audio available is a English Dolby Digital 2.0 (192Kb/s) track.

Nothing stands out about the audio, but overall it is quite a competent track typical of many recent 2.0 television tracks.

There is a reasonable level of range between dialogue, sound effects and the music.

The dialogue is clear and easy to understand.

The theme song and other music are pretty catchy and sound good.

Extras

Making of bro' Town trailer (3:47)  Brief look at behind the scenes

Extended Promo featuring the Naked Samoans (16:30): Essentially a highlights reel some comments from the Naked Samoans.

R4 vs R1

NOTE: To view non-R4 releases, your equipment needs to be multi-zone compatible and usually also NTSC compatible.

There is no R1 version and even if there was I don't think they would get it!

Summary

The show is fun, but just as you get into it the overly short season ends.

    The video looks great.

    The audio is quite good.

The special features are brief and will be a let down for fans.
