Plot Synopsis

    Spongebob Squarepants debuted on US cable network Nickelodeon in 1999 and quickly became a big hit. So far there have been approximately 75 episodes produced and a motion picture.

    If you have not come across this show before, it is an animated series aimed at children, probably of the 5 - 12 age group, although it does have wider appeal. The series is set under the sea in a town called Bikini Bottom and the major characters are:

Video

    The video quality is excellent.

    The feature is presented in a 1.29:1 aspect ratio, which is the original aspect ratio.

    The picture is very clear and sharp throughout, with no evidence of low level noise.

    The colour was excellent.

    There were no noticeable artefacts.

    There are no subtitles.

    This is a dual layer disc however the layer change must fall between episodes.

Audio

    The audio quality is perfectly fine for the show.

    This DVD contains four audio options, an English Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack encoded at 192 Kb/s and the same in German, French and Dutch. There is also a Spanish 2.0 mono track encoded at 192 Kb/s.

    Dialogue was clear and easy to understand.    

    The surround speakers and subwoofer were not used at all.
