Plot Synopsis

The NRL Footy Show is a long time favourite of the Rugby League Community and it has always featured comedians from its inception in the mid-1990s. This 2 disc pack pulls together approximately 40 of those comedians from the 1990s up to recent times, totalling over 3 hours of comedy, magic, musical comedy, practical jokes and other similar acts. Obviously, the style of comedy and the other acts available here is not exactly classy; rather it is as you would expect from this show, more toward the tits, bums and fart style of humour. Having said that, there is still a lot of variety here with quite a few very funny performances such as by Anh Do, Vince Sorrenti or Jimeoin. Others were quite trying, at least for me, especially those relying on rude words rather than wit.

Obviously, if you are a fan of the show you will get lots of laughs from these performances. The first disc is hosted by Carl Barron (who I found annoying) and the second by Tahir who did a better job.

Video

The video quality is very good.

The feature is presented in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio (with some sections at 1.33:1 for older performances), which would be the original aspect ratio, 16x9 enhanced.

The picture was quite sharp and clear with only some minor grain to spoil the clarity. The colour was very good with no issues to report.

The only other artefact was some minor edge enhancement, especially noticeable on older footage.

    There are no subtitles.

     There is no layer change.

Audio

    The audio quality is good.

This DVD contains one audio option, an English Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo soundtrack encoded at 224 Kb/s. The comedians were clear and easy to understand throughout which is obviously the only critical part of the audio quality.

The surround speakers and subwoofer were not used.
