Plot Synopsis

Kitty Flanagan is an Australian stand-up comedian who has become more well known in recent years due to her appearances on The 7PM Project on the Ten Network and other television appearances, many of which are included in the extras on this disc. I was lucky enough to go to one of her shows on her recent tour at the Sydney Opera House. This DVD features another show on the same tour, held at the Orange Civic Centre in mid western NSW. Accordingly, I had heard most of the material presented here before, but that didn't stop me laughing very hard throughout.

This show runs for about an hour and features mostly Kitty on her own and one song at the end with her sister, called Show the World. The other song that was performed in the live show is not present and Kitty mentions onstage that they couldn't obtain the rights to it for DVD release. Regardless, this is not a big loss and the comedy material is first rate covering topics such as ageing, golf, the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, women in comedy, sex, being a Catholic, children's names, annoying parents, travelling and types of drunks. This is Kitty's first comedy DVD and hopefully not her last.

Extras

Quite a collection of extras from Kitty's career.

Menu

The menu was still and silent.

7PM Project (14:55)

Compilation of a number of her appearances on the 7PM project. Very funny stuff.

Great Debate (10:15)

Her appearance on a debate back in 1999 or 2000 before the Sydney Olympics on the topic of whether the Olympics are Fool's Gold. She is very funny and has the opposition laughing as well as her own team.

Full Frontal Clips (3:59)

A few skits from Full Frontal featuring Kitty usually with Shaun Micallef. Funny stuff.

The Couch (7:35)

Another funny TV appearance on Good News Week where she sits on the couch and plays a word association game with Paul McDermott.

Headliners (7:54)

Resoundingly unfunny appearance on a comedy focused TV show. Just a bad idea.

Show the World Live (5:11)

An appearance by Kitty and her sister on Good News Week doing the same song as in the main feature.

Dating Roy Fenwick (Short Film) (11:59)

A short film written and directed by Kitty in 2005. Tells the story of a mid-30s woman whose mother is trying to get her to date a particular man. Not really comedy.

R4 vs R1

Summary

This show is not yet available in other regions.

A funny stand-up routine from one of our best local comics.

The video quality is good. The audio quality is good.

     Extras are pretty good.
