Crusty Demons: The Next Level is the follow up release to the successful action sports feature Crusty Demons Of Dirt.
This feature follows the same successful formula of massive jumps and stunts set to a music soundtrack. During this feature there are numerous shots of people riding BMX bikes and snowmobiles as well as the more familiar dirt bikes. Seth Enslow returns in this feature and shows why he has become one of the most recognized people associated with this sport. During the feature we briefly see Seth's world record attempt to jump his friends house, as well as an attempt by Paul Fernandez on a BMX bike to jump onto an apartment roof after being pulled up to speed by a car.
This feature is set in various locations around the world and also includes footage from the 2000 Gravity Games in San Francisco. If you are an action sports fan you should definitely enjoy this feature.
The transfer is presented in an aspect ratio of 1.33:1.
This transfer is quite soft throughout but this is due to the source material and is not a fault of the transfer. Some low level noise is also detectable throughout the transfer, but this too is due to the video based source material. During the few dark scenes poor shadow detail is noted but this is only minimally distracting to the feature.
The colour palette displayed during this transfer is always slightly muted, as you would expect from a feature shot on relatively low quality video.
A small MPEG artefact may be seen at 14:00 but this is not distracting to the show.
A single minor instance of aliasing may be seen at 17:25 but due to its short duration it too is not a distraction.
Some very minor film artefacts may be seen at 14:47, 22:07, 32:56 and 32:59, although as they are only quite minor they are not really disruptive to the transfer.
No subtitles are included on this disc.

All extras are presented in an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 with a Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack.
The animated menu is presented at an aspect ratio of 1.33:1.
This extra is an edited clip showing an in-car camera view from a 4WD pro truck off-road race.
This is a shot from a helmet cam as the rider weaves his way along a jungle trail in Hawaii.
This is a short comedy skit about a dial-a-ramp service.
This is a selection of clips featuring comments by the directors about the making of the feature. During each of these clips the dialogue is often hard to hear with multiple people sharing a single microphone. The following clips are included: Hawaii (4:53), Paul "Flush" Fernandez (1:18), Peru (4:48), Bubba (3:22) and Trippin' (3:35).
NOTE: To view non-R4 releases, your equipment needs to be multi-zone compatible and usually also NTSC compatible.
This disc does not appear to be currently available in Region 1.
Crusty Demons: The Next Level is a disc that all action sports fans should take a look at.
The video is adequately presented considering the relatively low quality original source material.
The Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack is suitable for the material presented.
The collection of extras is quite interesting and the comments by the directors provide some interesting insights into the feature.
